In 1990, American Pet Shampoos (APS) began doing research to develop a product to aid in the removal of attached ticks from pets and their owners. By the Spring of 1991, APS had developed, researched, tested, trademarked, patented, copyrighted and marketed the product now known as Tick Release.

Tick Release is a high interest product because there is nothing else like it, to date, on the market. It is sold through veterinarians, feed stores, outdoors and forestry  catalogs among others. We are also proud to say Tick Release is poison-free and manufactured in the United States.

Product Report

Tests of Tick Release have found the product to be a most effective aid in the removal of attached ticks. By applying Tick Release to the affected area, the force factor required to remove the tick was reduced by less than half. In 1/3 to 1/4 of the cases, ticks tested backed out by themselves. This should decrease healing time and reduce the chances of irritation and secondary infection due to scratching.

Tick Release has been reviewed by both the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) and the Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) with the determination that Tick Release is not a pesticide nor a drug, therefore it is not regulated by either agency.
